FIX: Application not found, when click on CD/DVD drive

Probably a program was registered to launch automatically when you inserted a DVD, and that program was removed and when you insert any other DVD and try to launch a program, it prompts “Application not found.”

Its simplest trick that helps to get rid of such problem as well as initialize drive’s (including hard drives and DVD drives) context menu to default.

How To:

1. Run regedit (Registry Editor)

2. Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer

3. Remove or delete MountPoint2 key completely and close Registry Editor.

4. Logoff or restart your PC to take effect.

5. Now check and double click on your DVD drives. Happy Windows computing.

    Thanks for the straight-to-the point solution. I was having that problem trying to access external drives (including backup drives, USB thumb drives and SD cards!) from Explorer and now it is resolved. Kuddos!

    The best answer that worked for me was to go into the Windows 7 control panel, select programs and features.
    Click on the turn on/off features on the left panel
    Go to Media Features and de-select all.
    After windows runs its thing it will reboot.
    Once you’re back select those options again with a check mark and reboot.
    You should be able to put a DVD into drive and start immediatly.
    If you have more than one media program capable of playing dvds then you will be prompted to select the one you want.
