Neither iOS nor Android, Windows Phone 7 has become the Operating System of the Year. Microsoft’s latest operating system for smartphones – Windows Phone 7 OS has been awarded as OS of the Year at Know Your Mobile Awards 2011 event. While runner ups include Samsung’s Bada OS and BlackBerry 7 OS.
The jury includes Jonathan Morris, Senior Editor at Steel Media; Susi Weaser, Freelance Journalist; Harriet Rhodes, Editor of dialaphone.co.uk; Comedian and Host Steve Furst; and Know Your Mobile’s features Editor Richard Goodwin.
The jury had comment on it –
“It has the most potential, with a unique interface and a rapidly growing apps selection. It has a great looking UI and doesn’t look like Android or iOS.”
“A massive move from the previous OS. Huge growth in apps and the system looks heaps better than the competition.”
“Innovative interface, with more success to come.”
“A refreshing OS that doesn’t try and copy other operating systems. Has attracted a large number of developers too.”
Windows Phone 7 OS won applauses mainly for it’s a unique Metro UI which is home screen based on “Live Tiles”. Besides Xbox LIVE, Microsoft Office 2010, Zune, Windows Live, Bing were also in focus.
